This weekend Joey & I went to Atlanta, GA to celebrate our 1yr Anniversary. In fact, we just got back a couple hours ago! We had a blast & loved every minute of it! Only bad thing is we missed Livvy way too much (everything reminded us of her)! But I did good...I only called twice a day. I knew she was in good hands, but it was hard not to call!
On Friday we left & arrived in Atlanta. After figuring out that the internet directions were bound to get us lost, we realized that the hotel was practically central to everything & were thoroughly pleased. We went to the distribution center, the bookstore, Target to pick up some things, grabbed a bite to eat at Sweet Tomatoes (which we so need one in Knoxville. Super good!) & to the hotel to settle in for the night. As you can see we enjoyed the towel elephant they made for us, & the glasses that it wore.
On Saturday, we ate brunch, went to the temple where we were able to do an endowment session & sealings. We were even able to do sealings for children, which reminded us how special it is to have Livvy sealed to us. We both love the temple & the peaceful spirit it brings & it was so nice to be able to spend time were we were sealed 355 days before! We weren't able to get a picture in front of the temple because there was a wedding. But that's ok, they were cute to watch! After the temple, we took a drive downtown where I found lots of interesting buildings to take pictures of (Yes, it's an obsession.), got stuck in traffic, & finally made our way to the GA Aquarium. We love aquariums! This one had things they don't have in Chattanooga or Gatlinburg, so it was very interesting. When we were leaving, it started to storm. So, we got stuck in that for a while, got soaked, then got lost when all the traffic lights were either out or blown sideways. After finding our way back within close proximity to the hotel, where we felt safe, we meandered around until Joey found this place called Wildfire Grill. We'd never eaten there before, but it was amazing! Definitely a splurge place for us(not too expensive, but enough that it's for special occasions). There are only 2 locations, the other being the original 1940's restaurant in Chicago. It kind of has that old 40-50s feel. They even play the good music like Miles Davis, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, etc. (& if you don't know who they are, I pity you. Please, educate yourself. You're missing out!) The only thing missing is the dance floor that you see in all those old movies. Obviously, we enjoyed the evening!
Then this morning, our actual anniversary, we exchanged cards & headed home. Although we were sad to leave, we missed Livvy so much we were ready to come home. As soon as we got here we unpacked as she napped. As soon as she woke up though, I scooped her up & snuggled her like I'd never let her go again! Of course, she looked at me like "Where have you been & where's my Grandma?" & Grandma scooped her up a couple hours later suffering withdrawals already. But, then she was ready for mommy-snuggles again & things are getting back to normal.
All in all, it was a wonderful weekend & I'm so thankful we got the chance to spend some time together as just a married couple. We didn't really have the chance to be just married without me being sick, & we know we won't get the chance often, so I'm glad we did. Now, we just have to get Mom & Dad to leave for the weekend....
This year has been full of changes & excitement for us both. But I can't think of anyone else I'd rather experience it with that Joey. I love you, Honey!
Enjoy the pictures, everyone! Sorry, they're numbered in order, but not posted in order!
